Obituary of John Vinson Hudson

John Vinson "Jackie" Hudson, 58 of Chiefland passed away Oct. 21 at Haven Hospice of the Tri Counties in Chiefland. Born in Williston he has spent his lifetime in this area. He was the assistant manager at Central Florida Electric Co-op. He was a graduate of Chiefland High School and earned his Bachelor's degree from Florida State University. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1969-1971, serving as Supply Specialist. He was a sergeant with "E" Company 7th Battalion, 2nd Brigade. He earned 3 Bronze Stars and 3 Commendation Medals. He is survived by Nancy Dortch, his life mate of 36 years of Chiefland; his mother, Alicia Hudson of Chiefland; sister, Janet Watson of Lizella, GA; brother, Powell Hudson of Chiefland; 10 nieces & nephews and 7 great nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Falcon Powell Hudson in 2003. Funeral Service will be Sat., Oct 25 at 11:00 AM at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Service with Dr. Darel D. Mitchell officiating and Chris Hardee reading the Eulogy. Burial will follow the service at Chiefland Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 - 7:00PM at the funeral home.
