Obituary of Captain Walter Mielnicki

Captain Walter M. Mielnicki, USMC Born January 24, 1939 in Wyandotte, Michigan; died at home in Orange Springs, Florida on July 4, 2010. He proudly served, for 22 years, his country in the Marine Corps, including during the Vietnam Conflict. After his service he graduated with honors from University of Florida with his degree in Education. He taught at Fort McCoy Elementary School for 20 years founding the Young Astronauts Space Program. He is survived by beloved wife of 50 years, Patricia, of Orange Springs, FL; daughters, Teena Harrison of Floral City, FL, Cynthia Servantez of Colorado Springs, CO, and Michelle Wetz of Ocala, FL; sister, Joan Shanklin of Norfolk, VA, Geraldine Somers, and Rosemary Beardsley both of Wyandotte, MI; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation Thursday, July 8th 5:PM - 8:PM. Funeral service Friday, July 9, 2010 11:AM HIERS-BAXLEY FUNERAL SERVICES, Ocala, FL 352-629-7171. Interment at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Toys For Tots. Please bring a new toy, in the original packaging, for donation to the service.
