Obituary of Naomi J. Lawrence

LAWRENCE, NAOMI JUNE Ocala - Naomi June "Mickey" Lawrence, 88, died in her home on Sunday, July 25, 2010. "Mickey" was born June 14th in Rembrandt, IA , her parents were Omer and Ethel Mickelson. She was raised in Cherokee, IA and completed her education at Cherokee High School where she was homecoming queen and graduated in 1940. She was married to Bill Lawrence in 1941and faithfully waited during the four years he served in the US Army Combat Infantry during WWII. After the war they made their home in Bartlesville, OK where they lived for 47 years. "Mickey" was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bartlesville, where she sang in the choir, was in the bell choir, member of the Altar Guild and was an active volleyball player. Her favorite pastimes were making baby blankets and pillows and watching Tom Selleck and Ashton Kutcher films. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Bill Lawrence and is survived by her five children Nancy Leonard of Ocala, Linda Kinder of Oklahoma City, OK, Kay Dennis of Flagstaff, AZ, Kris Lawrence of Ocala and B.J. Lawrence of Pittsburg, TX; brother Bob Mickelson of Bolivar, MO; 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 30, 2010 at First United Methodist Church in Ocala with Rev. Alan Johnson and Dr. John Few officiating. Interment will be in Cherokee, IA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name at Hands of Mercy Everywhere (H.O.M.E.) on SE Robinson Rd in Belleview, FL.
