Obituary of Marie C Thompson

Marie C. Thompson passed peacefully and painlessly on January 19, 2024 while living at her daughter Janet Streit’s home in Ocala, FL. Marie was born in Queens, New York to Domenica and Cosmo Coluccio on November 13, 1923. Marie attended Richmond Hill High School in Queens, New York and later married William C Thompson, who passed away in August 2010.

Marie had 2 sisters, Lucy(deceased), Elsie and a brother James (deceased). Marie and William are survived by their 4 children, James (MaryLou)Thompson, Janet(Jim) Streit, Steven(Joann)Thompson and William(Pat) Thompson. Marie is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Justin, Thomas, Shaun, Lauren, Jonathan, Brent and Alexis. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren, Erin, Colton, Lucas, Tommy, Jack and Freddy and several nieces and nephews.

After her children were older she began working as an Administrator for the New York City Dept. of Social Services. She retired in 1986 and moved to Florida.

Marie had lived a long life and enjoyed a 100 year old birthday celebration in November. Marie was an avid reader, loved listening to music and also enjoyed social activities and current events. She was a connoisseur of all things sweet, especially chocolate and ice cream.
