Obituary of Nicholas D. Yancura

Nicholas D. Yancura, age 77, of The Villages, FL passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019. He was born in Akron, OH on August 21, 1941. He moved to The Villages from Ohio with his wife Ann 15 years ago.

In his youth Nick was an amazing baseball player who was scouted and in fact approached by a minor league team but opted to attend college instead. He went to Akron University in Ohio where he was elected president of the student body in his senior year. During his life Nick worked as a history teacher at Firestone High School in Akron where he first met Ann. He spent the last 38 years of his career in pharmaceutical sales with The Butler Company. Later in life Nick enjoyed playing cards, golfing with friends and guys from the Men’s Guild group at his church and was also an avid reader. He also had an interest in collecting Ohio pottery, art and antiques along with Ann.

He is survived by his son Dan Yancura of The Villages, FL; daughter Beth (Ty) Harrod of Mahtomedi, MN; brother Michael Yancura and sister Carol Harris both of Akron, OH. 

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ann Joyce Yancura who passed away in 2016.

Mass will be celebrated at St Mark The Evangelist Church, 7081 SE Highway 42, Summerfield, FL 34491 on Friday August 16, 2019 at 10am. Inurnment will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at a private ceremony.
