Obituary of David Donald Quisenberry

David Donald “Don” Quisenberry, 86, of Ocala, FL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 after an extended illness.  He was born on June 28, 1933 in Syracuse, OH to Oa (Baer) and Benjamin Quisenberry.  Don was the youngest of 3 sons.  He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War as Platoon Communications Chief.  He graduated Phi Delta Kappa from Ohio University in 1960 with his Master’s Degree in Education.  Most of his teaching career took place at Southeastern High School in South Charleston, OH.  He taught Industrial Arts, World History, and Drivers Ed, while also coaching varsity football, basketball, and softball.  Don served as president of the local annual festival for nine years, which raised funds for the local school organizations.  He was also a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and American Legion.  Don retired from Southeastern High School in 1986 and he and his wife Joann moved to a retirement community in Ocala, FL.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister in law Joseph (June) Quisenberry, brothers in law Terry Henry and Jim Coleman, and his son Donnie Quisenberry.  Don is survived by his wife of 65 years Joann (Henry) Quisenberry, brother Roger (Margaret) Quisenberry, daughters Kim Salzwedel of Columbus, OH and Linda Jarrett of Allen, TX, granddaughters Ness “Michelle” (Robb) Mayker and Joy Salzwedel, great-grandchildren Draylen and Amelia, sisters in law Sandy Henry and Martha Coleman, and many nieces and nephews.   Burial will be  12:30pm on Tuesday, November 19 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL with military honors.
