Joyce Morgan

Obituary of Joyce Morgan

Joyce Morgan, 85, of Leesburg, FL left us to be with the Lord on Friday, June 7, 2019.  Joyce was born on December 8, 1933 on a Nickel Plate Railroad train carrying the body of her father to his resting place in E. Stroudsburg, PA and was raised by her maternal grandmother Ella Nora Arnold in Elmira, NY.

Joyce was married to and had three children with Michael J. Morgan, Sr.; David Morgan (Claudia), Michael J. Morgan, Jr. (Stacie), and Susan Moran (Mark).  She leaves behind five grandchildren:  Kate Redland, Patrick Morgan, Ryan and Kelly Moran, and Tyler Morgan, and four great-grandchildren, Emily and Keith Hulse, and Christopher and Michael Redland.

Joyce graduated from Waynesburg University and she worked at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry for 25 years before retiring and moving to Florida.

While in Florida, she lived at Lake Griffin Harbor where she made many friends.  To her, it wasn’t just a place to live, it was home.

There will be no formal final services at Joyce’s request.  As a long-time professional in medical education, Joyce felt strongly about donating her body to medical research to continue her journey on the path of educating young people.  As such, her final worldly destination will be the University of Florida at Gainesville where her body will aid and assist tomorrow’s physicians.

Joyce was a passionate Buffalo Bills fan, so in lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to PanchosPack, a charity which provides backpacks full of school supplies for underprivileged children.  The charity was formed to honor the late Buffalo Bills superfan Ezra “Pancho Billa” Castro and can be accessed here: http://www.theteachersdesk.org/donate/
