Obituary of Feg Frederick Henkel
Feg Frederick Henkel, age 73 of The Villages, Fla., joined his heavenly Father and Savior on Thursday, May 2, 2019, following a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Feg was born March 6, 1946, to Frederick and Josephine Henkel in Highland Park, Mich. He served proudly in the United States Navy from 1964-1977. He worked in information technology for nuclear power plants. He retired to The Villages full-time in 2006, where he enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies from remote control boats, cars, and airplanes to motorcycle trips and gun clubs. He was a faithful member of Open Bible Lutheran Church in Oxford, Fla., and held fast to his hope in God’s steadfast love and mercy and the power of salvation through Christ before and during his illness. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).
Feg is survived by his wife, Joan (Pilon); daughters Pamela Henkel (Center Point, Iowa) and Mary (Jon) Sievers and grandchildren, Matthew, Owen, Carsten, and Adele (Stockton, Iowa). He is also survived by sisters Clearine (Cis) Fey and Patricia Sietsema, brother Mike Henkel, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tue., May 7, 2019 at Open Bible Lutheran Church, 4671 Bellwether Lane, Oxford, FL, with visitation one hour prior; followed by interment at 2:00 PM at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave., Bushnell, FL.
